Mission Trips

I´d rather be in Guatemala than anywhere else

There are countless ways to do the Lord’s work in Guatemala: by serving meals to hundreds of children who have no other source of food, installing water filters in families’ homes, and praying with teenagers who are searching for a purpose.

We were blessed to do all of this life-changing work with a mission team last month. And we can’t wait for more of you to visit us on a quick trip or longer mission trip.

Led by Transforming Futures President Pablo Villagrán and Board members Cinda and James Rachor, 17 participants on our most recent mission trip spent a week immersed in the work.

They spent time in the Feeding Center praying with Pastora Mercedes. They laid a concrete sidewalk at the Michelle Pho School. They traveled to a rural community outside of Guatemala City, where they were a light for children who live in extreme poverty.

One of the most humbling and rewarding moments for Emma, a medical sales professional from Michigan, was when the group had to serve more than one hundred children from a few pots of food.

“Looking around, there was no way there was going to be enough,” she says. “But God showed up, and we were able to feed every single person there.”

This mission team was the first to stay in our new Training Center, which can house up to 20 participants during their visit to Guatemala. After a long day, the team spent time in the Training Center reflecting on how God is present in even the most challenging situations.

“It’s life changing for the people you’re helping, but it’s also life changing for you because your eyes are opened,” says Jordan, a sophomore at the University of Kentucky.

Transforming Futures uplifts Guatemala’s most vulnerable youth: orphans who have been abused or abandoned and children who live in extreme poverty.
Transforming Futures, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019, equips teenage orphans in Guatemala with job skills and emotional support as they transition out of orphanages. In addition, we provide daily meals to hundreds of children living around one of Guatemala City’s largest garbage dumps. Transforming Futures Guatemala is officially registered with the Superintendence of Banks of Guatemala and complies with all regulations to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism, ensuring transparency and integrity in every aspect of our work.
