We primarily focus on the Guatemala City Garbage Dump, one of the largest dumps in Central America. Around 11,000 people live and work around the dump, where they sort through garbage in search of recyclable materials to sell. They can make $2.00–$6.00 per day. Most families lack access to food, education, health care, security, and job opportunities. We’re committed to empowering them—particularly the children of the garbage dump—by providing meals, educational opportunities, and spiritual support.
We’ve also recently expanded our programs beyond the garbage dump. We run a transition program for teenage orphans, partner with an organization to serve meals in a rural community, and built an elementary school outside of Guatemala City.
