At Transforming Futures, we equip orphaned and vulnerable teens
in Guatemala with life skills, education, housing, and mentorship.
By walking alongside them as they leave institutional care, we provide
the guidance, hope, and opportunities they need to build stable, independent, and purpose-filled futures.

Guatemala faces a critical challenge in supporting its orphaned population, with an estimated 370,000 to 500,000 children and teens lacking parental care. Of these, around 5,000 live in institutional settings, many nearing adulthood without the resources, guidance, or support needed to thrive independently. Teens aged 15 - 18, 25% of institutionalized orphans, are especially vulnerable, facing an uncertain future in a country that invests just 5.5% of its GDP in children and youth, the lowest in Northern Central America.

Currently supporting 130 teens, 2.6% of Guatemala’s institutionalized youth, Transforming Futures equips orphaned and vulnerable teens to break the cycle of vulnerability. Guided by faith and fueled by donor support, our program provides mentorship, life skills, and opportunities that empower teens to step confidently into adulthood and build brighter, independent futures.

Opened in 2021 and funded by supporters of Transforming Futures, the Michelle Pho School is a beacon of hope for the rural community of Pie del Cerro. Built in honor of Michelle Pho, a beloved Canadian teacher, the school now serves over 170 students with access to quality education, nutritious meals, and a safe space to grow.


In a country where nearly half of all children suffer from chronic malnutrition, our Feeding Centers provide daily meals that support both health and learning. Fully equipped with desks, whiteboards, and kitchen facilities, the school also serves as a hub for community gatherings, voting, and health services—making it a vital resource for the entire area.

Transforming Futures uplifts Guatemala’s most vulnerable youth: orphans who have been abused or abandoned and children who live in extreme poverty. 

Transforming Futures, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019, equips teenage orphans in Guatemala with job skills and emotional support as they transition out of orphanages. In addition, we provide daily meals to hundreds of children living around one of Guatemala City’s largest garbage dumps. Transforming Futures Guatemala is officially registered with the Superintendence of Banks of Guatemala and complies with all regulations to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism, ensuring transparency and integrity in every aspect of our work.
