Dear Founding Families and friends,
In Guatemala the school year ends in October and we wanted to share with you the privilege we had this year to support over 20 children in our new educational program.
Together with our two teachers we have learned how difficult it is for the children living around the garbage dump area to obtain an educational foundation because many children don’t receive any support from their parents or relatives. Others carry deep emotional burdens from family situations and others struggle with learning disabilities.
In the words of our assistant teacher Karen, “the children coming to our educational program are brave, because without parental support they remain strong and show up for tutoring classes with big smiles on their faces and ready to do their homework”.
We believe that an effective way to transform their futures is by providing them with a support system that allows them to succeed academically.
Our program is expanding from meeting their primary need of food, to also invest in their education by having teachers fulltime to help them do their homework and develop an educational support system. We plan to continue growing our program to allow more children to have access to a safe place to develop and succeed.

In 2019 we were able to begin our educational program because of your generous support and we believe that we are in the right path to continue transforming our children’s’ lives. Here are some of our accomplishments:
- 240 hours of school tutoring for children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.
- Recreational and Christian mentoring activities
- 4 months of breakfast and lunch for 20+ children
- Emotional support to our children
We can’t wait to start our new summer school program that will allow children going into first grade next year to come to our facilities and start developing important learning skills and participate in recreational and Christian activities. Some children in the garbage dump stay home alone all day so we know how important it is to have a safe space where they can come to learn and have fun while their parents are working to recycle materials in the garbage dump.
As we start our new summer school program in November we are going to need extra support from you to help us get our brave children school supplies and game boards.
Would you consider making a donation today to help us transform the education of children?
I pray that God will continue guiding us in supporting our brave children that need so much support.
