The Michelle Pho School Opens Its Doors

More than a year ago, God called Transforming Futures to build a school in a rural community in Guatemala. Now, we are thrilled to announce that the Michelle Pho School is completed!

Built in honor of Michelle, a Canadian teacher and dear friend who passed away suddenly in 2018, the school is a testament to her and her family’s passion for transforming the futures of Guatemalan children.

Not only will the school be a safe place for students to learn, but it will also be a space where people can gather, vote, receive health care, and much more.

“This school will have an impact for generations. It literally transforming the community” Blaine Pho says.

Take a journey through the school and watch the emotional moment when it officially opens:

We’d like to express our deep gratitude to the Pho family, the Vanderhooft family and everyone who contributed funds for desks, bookshelves, and essential school supplies.
We can’t wait to see kids filling the classrooms when the new school year begins in February!

Transforming Futures uplifts Guatemala’s most vulnerable youth: orphans who have been abused or abandoned and children who live in extreme poverty.
Transforming Futures, a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2019, equips teenage orphans in Guatemala with job skills and emotional support as they transition out of orphanages. In addition, we provide daily meals to hundreds of children living around one of Guatemala City’s largest garbage dumps. Transforming Futures Guatemala is officially registered with the Superintendence of Banks of Guatemala and complies with all regulations to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism, ensuring transparency and integrity in every aspect of our work.
